Justin Wiseman, Ph.D.

Justin Wiseman, Ph.D.

CEO

Seasoned tech entrepreneur, investor, and mass spectrometry veteran, Justin Wiseman is the CEO of MS Pen Technologies, Inc.

Passionate about innovative diagnostic solutions, Justin has a track record of successfully commercializing mass spectrometry. From 2010-2019, Justin served as chairman, president and CEO of Prosolia, Inc., an analytical devices company specializing in mass spectrometry solutions for life sciences. There, he oversaw the commercialization of proprietary mass spectrometry imaging technology, including its expansion from research into clinical and applied markets. He also led Prosolia’s acquisition by the Waters Corporation in 2018. 

While pursuing his Ph.D at Purdue University, Justin completed the esteemed Krannert School of Management’s Applied Management Principles Executive Education program. He received the Schering Plough's Science and Innovation Award for his work on the invention of Desorption Electrospray Ionization (DESI) mass spectrometry. In 2019, Purdue University named him a Distinguished Outstanding Alumni Entrepreneur.

Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Inventor of the MasSpec Pen System™, Dr. Livia Schiavinato Eberlin is a co-founder and the chief scientific officer of MS Pen Technologies, Inc. Passionate about the intersection of chemistry and medicine, Dr. Eberlin’s invention is protected by three issued patents and 42 pending applications.

A recognized leader in medical mass spectrometry, Dr. Eberlin is deeply connected to the surgical world. She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, the director of the INSTINCT Surgical Technology and Innovation Center, and a member of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center. 

Dr. Eberlin is the recipient of several honors and awards for her scientific research, including a NIH/NCI K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award, a Forbes 30 Under 30 Healthcare Award, a Moore Inventor Fellowship, and most notably, a MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship. She has published more than 80 research articles in top-rated journals, including PNAS, Science Translational Medicine, Cancer Research, and Clinical Chemistry.

James W. Suliburk, MD

Chief Medical Officer

An experienced board-certified surgeon, Dr. James W. Suliburk is a co-founder and the chief medical officer of MS Pen Technologies, Inc.

Dr. Suliburk specializes in the treatment of thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal gland tumors. He currently serves as an associate professor and chief of endocrine surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, as well as the medical director of ambulatory surgery therapeutics (CfAST) in the Department of Surgery. He is also a member of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

His research centers on clinical endocrine surgery outcomes in underserved and minority populations, outcomes in acute care and trauma surgery, the application of mobile technology to improve perioperative surgical care, and communication with patients to better detect impending complications. Dr. Suliburk’s research program at Ben Taub Hospital and Baylor St. Luke’s CHI Medical Center offers opportunities in translational science, clinical outcomes, and mobile technology development and innovation.

Thomas E. Milner, Ph.D.

Co-Founder & Technology Advisor

A prolific inventor and innovator, Dr. Thomas E. Milner is a co-founder, board member and technology advisor for MS Pen Technologies, Inc. 

Dr. Milner has pioneered multiple surgical and diagnostic technologies. He holds over 55 U.S. patents and five international patents, currently licensed to six companies. His patent royalties to university IP owners and licensees have returned over $100 million in revenue. He is also a co-founder of CardioSpectra and Dermalucent. 

Dr. Milner has authored 190 peer-reviewed articles and eight book chapters. His research centers on optical-based therapeutics and diagnostic imaging, biomedical fiber sensors, and infrared imaging radiometry. He is a recipient of the Coherent Young Investigator Award in Biomedical Optics, an Inventor of the Year Award by the University of Texas at Austin, and numerous grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH). Dr. Milner is a fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and the National Academy of Inventors.
